Foreign currency research from the Post Office reveals where UK holidaymakers' travel money will go furthest this year

London, UK (PRWeb UK) 7 February 2010 -- Recent research has revealed that Turkey, Spain, Bulgaria and Mexico have seen an increase in the number of visits by UK residents. However, Post Office Travel Services warns that while UK holidaymakers' travel money may go further in Spain and Bulgaria this year, those travelling to Turkey may not find that their travel money (http://www.postoffice.co.uk/portal/po/jump1?catId=62900708&mediaId=19300207) goes as far as hoped.

The Post Office Worldwide Holiday Costs Barometer has revealed that other holiday hotspots such as Croatia and Indonesia have also seen a rise in the cost of travel essentials. For example, holidaymakers spending their foreign currency in Croatia will face a price hike of almost 17 per cent for meals, drinks and other holiday items.

In the summer months of 2009 alone, UK residents spent nearly £11m worth of foreign currency while abroad. With foreign currency forming such a large part of holiday budgets, Post Office Travel Services advises travellers to seek out best deals on foreign currency, including its own zero per cent commission offer, to make sure they get the most from their travel money.

For holidaymakers looking for destinations where their travel money will go further, the Post Office Holiday Money Report has revealed that Spain is the cheapest eurozone destination. Foreign currency will go further as it has seen a drop of 30 per cent in costs for the same items surveyed a year ago.
